Overview

Whether you come to Northumberland to visit the many historic castles, houses and gardens for which the county is famous, to walk the hills and valleys in the National Park or to enjoy some of Britain's finest beaches, unspoilt countryside and the quietest roads anywhere,

Dine in style and elegance in the magnificent restaurant with it's fine range of antiques and pictures, or in the superbly furnished lounge bar. Steaks, fish, seafood and game are all on the menu, complemented by an excellent wine cellar. Great emphesis has always been on the quality of cuisine throughout the Coquet Valley and beyond with much of the produce used in our resraurant grown locally.

First time visitors to Northumberland are astonished at the space, the grandeur and the unspoilt nature of our landscape. It’s a land of huge skies, pristine sandy beaches, punctuated by mediaeval castles and small fishing villages, with a special quality of light which draws landscape artists and photographers from afar.

In the North East of the county, and close to Westfield Cottage, the mighty Cheviot Hills, encompassed within the Northumberland National Park, rise to the Scottish border. Each season has its own unique charms and some of the finest walking can be enjoyed during the winter months.

Only four miles away Cragside House, previously owned by Lord Armstrong, has always been a popular tourist attraction.
Set in breathtaking surroundings, this historic building has universal appeal. Fishing has always been a big attraction in Northumberland.
Much has been reported about the quality of fishing on the River Coquet. Salmon and Trout, amongst others, being caught on a regular basis. Fishing Licences can be purchased locally and the river is only 200 metres from our doorstep.

Kielder Reservoir is also a popular fishing hotspot. Situated deep in the heart of Kielder forest, this vast man made lake is fabulous for both fishing and watersports.
