Overview

Newnham College was founded in 1871 by visionaries driven by determination and courage, who believed in women's intellectual equality and right to a first-class education.

Staying overnight as a guest at Newnham College, Cambridge, offers a charming blend of historic charm and modern comfort. The College is ideally located just off the iconic ‘Backs’, along Cambridge’s historic Queens’ Road and close to the River Cam (and punting!). Enjoy a serene retreat from Cambridge's vibrant and diverse city centre which is only a 10-15-minute walk from the College.

Bedrooms are located in the modern Dorothy Garrod building (2018) in the heart of the College and include bedding, towels, toiletries and in-room refreshments.

Your stay is enriched by the extensive, beautifully curated gardens — a hidden gem tucked away behind the College walls, unseen from the outside. Guests are encouraged to walk on the grass and relax in the deckchairs on Clough lawn. Explore the College's impressive buildings and architecture in the quintissential "Queen Anne" style, with iconic red-brick buildings and white window frames.

An overnight stay at Newnham College offers a rare glimpse into the vibrant academic and social life of one of Cambridge's most distinguished institutions. Newnham is a vibrant, year-round community - home to students, Fellows, and a thriving conference and events programme. From meetings to weddings, the College hosts a wide range of events throughout the year, all within a working and living environment full of life and purpose.
